Description
A delicious and spicy Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak recipe that combines tender chicken, sautéed vegetables, and melted cheese in a hoagie roll.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup Buffalo sauce (plus extra for drizzling)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 hoagie rolls
- 1/4 cup ranch or blue cheese dressing (optional, for drizzling)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the thinly sliced chicken with the Buffalo sauce, coating the chicken well. Let it marinate while you prepare the other ingredients, or for at least 10 minutes.
- In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and green bell pepper. Cook for 4-5 minutes until the vegetables are softened and slightly caramelized. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add the marinated chicken slices to the skillet, spreading them out in a single layer. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked and slightly crispy around the edges. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Preheat the oven to broil. Slice the hoagie rolls open and place them on a baking sheet. Divide the cooked chicken evenly among the rolls. Top with the cooked onions and peppers.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the chicken and vegetables. Place the baking sheet under the broiler for 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Drizzle extra Buffalo sauce and ranch or blue cheese dressing over the top if desired. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve the Buffalo chicken cheesesteaks hot.
Notes
- For extra heat, add more Buffalo sauce to the chicken or drizzle on top before serving.
- Feel free to substitute the mozzarella cheese with your favorite cheese.
- These cheesesteaks can be made ahead of time and reheated in the oven.
