Description
Create a festive Candy Corn Sugar Cookie Pizza for Halloween. This easy treat uses a store-bought sugar cookie crust topped with yellow, orange, and white frosting to mimic the classic candy corn look. It’s a perfect, simple dessert for parties.
Ingredients
- 1 roll (16.5 oz) refrigerated sugar cookie dough
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Yellow and orange gel food coloring
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly spray a 12-inch round pizza pan with cooking spray or line with parchment paper.
- Unwrap cookie dough, slice into 1/4-inch thick rounds, and arrange them on the pizza pan. Press the slices together with clean hands to form an even layer for the sugar cookie crust.
- Bake for 13-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is cooked. Remove from oven and let cool completely on a wire rack.
- In a large bowl or stand mixer, beat softened butter until creamy (1-2 minutes).
- Gradually add powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Add vanilla extract and milk. Beat until the frosting is light, fluffy, and well combined.
- Set aside 1/2 cup of frosting for the white layer. Divide the remaining frosting evenly into two bowls.
- Add yellow gel food coloring to one bowl and orange to the other. Mix until desired shades are achieved.
- Once the sugar cookie crust is completely cool, frost it. Start with yellow frosting on the outside, add orange frosting inside, and finish with white frosting in the center to create the candy corn pattern. Spread frosting with a spoon, knife, or spatula. For cleaner lines, use piping bags with a large tip or Ziploc bags with a corner snipped.
- Cut the candy corn pizza into 8 slices and serve.
Notes
- Use gel food coloring for better color intensity and to avoid watering down the frosting.
- If you prefer white frosting, you can use clear vanilla extract or a tiny amount of purple gel coloring to neutralize yellow tones (use with caution).
- To prevent cookie dough from sticking to your hands when pressing it onto the pan, use a sheet of wax paper or parchment paper.
- Ensure the sugar cookie crust is completely cool before frosting to prevent the frosting from melting.
- Baking and decorating the candy corn sugar cookie pizza on the day of serving will provide the best texture and appearance.
