Description

A delightful twist on the classic apple pie, featuring caramel-infused apples enveloped in a golden, flaky crust.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups sliced apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts (or homemade pie crust)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and lemon juice. Cook until the apples are soft and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Roll out one pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie pan. Pour the caramelized apple mixture into the crust.
  4. Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the filling. Seal the edges and cut slits for steam to escape.
  5. Brush the top crust with milk.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
  7. Let the pie cool before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

For a flaky crust, ensure your butter is cold when mixing and avoid overworking the dough. Experiment with spices to customize the flavor.
