Ingredients
- 1 cup warm water (105–115 degrees F)
- 2 and 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 3 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in melted butter, egg, and salt. Add flour and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes in a stand mixer with a dough hook, or 8-10 minutes by hand, until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
- Shape each piece into a ball and flatten slightly. Stuff each ball with mozzarella cheese, then reshape into a ball, ensuring the cheese is enclosed.
- Arrange the stuffed dough balls in a greased 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a small bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, and parsley.
- Brush the garlic butter mixture generously over the top of each dough ball.
- Cover the pan and let the rolls rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve warm and enjoy your cheesy garlic butter pull-apart rolls.
Notes
- For an even richer flavor, you can add a pinch of garlic powder to the dough.
- If you don’t have fresh parsley, dried parsley can be used as a substitute.
- Ensure your yeast is fresh for the best rise.
- The dough can be made ahead and refrigerated overnight. Let it come to room temperature before shaping and baking.
