Ingredients
- 1 pre-made chocolate pie crust
- 1 cup fresh or frozen cherries
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Prepare the chocolate pie crust according to package instructions and set aside.
- In a saucepan, combine cherries, cornstarch, and water. Cook over medium heat until the mixture thickens.
- Remove from heat and let it cool.
- In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
- Fold in the cooled cherry mixture into the whipped cream gently.
- Pour the cherry cream mixture into the prepared chocolate pie crust.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
- Top with chocolate chips before serving, if desired.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate pie crust.
- Fresh cherries are recommended, but frozen can be used if fresh are not available.
