Description

Make this easy Nutella pastry puff recipe with flaky puff pastry and rich chocolate hazelnut spread—perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Basic:

1 sheet frozen puff pastry (thawed)

1/3 to 1/2 cup Nutella (or similar hazelnut spread)

1 egg

1 tbsp milk or water (for egg wash)

Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Optional Add-ins:

Chopped hazelnuts or almonds

Banana or strawberry slices

Mini chocolate chips

Cinnamon or sea salt (a pinch

Instructions

  • Thaw the puff pastry according to package instructions (about 30–40 minutes or overnight in the fridge).

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Roll out the pastry slightly on a floured surface into a rectangle.

  • Spread Nutella over half of the pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.

  • Fold the pastry over the Nutella side and press edges to seal. Crimp with a fork for decoration.

  • Cut into strips or shapes if desired (e.g., twists, braids, or turnovers).

  • Prepare egg wash by whisking the egg with milk or water. Brush over the top of the pastry.

  • Bake for 15–20 minutes until golden and puffed.

  • Cool slightly, dust with powdered sugar, and serve warm or at room temp.

Notes

  • Don’t overfill with Nutella to prevent leaking.

  • Use egg wash for that glossy, bakery-style finish.

  • Work with chilled dough for best flakiness.

  • Add chopped nuts or fruit for extra texture and flavor.

  • Reheat in the oven or air fryer for a crispy refresh.
