Description
A delicious twist on classic sloppy joes, featuring ground beef and sweet caramelized onions topped with melted provolone cheese.
Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 2 medium sweet yellow onions, thinly sliced
- 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 6 slices provolone cheese
- 4 sturdy hamburger buns
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add a drizzle of oil and sauté the sliced onions until golden brown (10-15 minutes).
- Push the onions to one side and add ground beef to the other side of the skillet. Cook until browned (5-7 minutes), breaking it apart with a spatula.
- Stir in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce; let simmer for another 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Layer provolone cheese on top of the beef mixture and cover briefly until melted (1-2 minutes).
- Assemble by scooping the cheesy beef onto buns and serving hot.
Notes
- For extra flavor, consider adding garlic or herbs to the beef mixture.
