Description

A delicious twist on classic sloppy joes, featuring ground beef and sweet caramelized onions topped with melted provolone cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 medium sweet yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 sturdy hamburger buns
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add a drizzle of oil and sauté the sliced onions until golden brown (10-15 minutes).
  2. Push the onions to one side and add ground beef to the other side of the skillet. Cook until browned (5-7 minutes), breaking it apart with a spatula.
  3. Stir in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce; let simmer for another 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Layer provolone cheese on top of the beef mixture and cover briefly until melted (1-2 minutes).
  5. Assemble by scooping the cheesy beef onto buns and serving hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding garlic or herbs to the beef mixture.
  • Serve with a side of fries or a salad for a complete meal.
