A delicious and easy recipe for Hamburger Steaks, also known as Salisbury-Style Hamburger Patties, served with a savory gravy.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
- 1 tablespoon butter (for gravy)
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for gravy)
- 1 cup beef broth (for gravy)
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (for gravy)

Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until fully combined.
- Shape the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked through.
- Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
- For the gravy, melt butter in the same skillet over medium heat. Add flour and whisk for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
- Gradually add beef broth, whisking constantly, and cook for 3-4 minutes until the gravy thickens. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet and spoon the gravy over the top. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
