Description
Comforting slow-cooked beef sandwiches served with savory broth for dipping.
Ingredients
- 2–3 lbs beef chuck roast
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 2–3 cloves minced garlic
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- To taste salt and pepper
- 4–6 pieces hoagie rolls
- To taste sliced provolone cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Season the beef chuck roast generously with salt and pepper.
- Sauté the sliced onions in a skillet over medium heat until soft and translucent (about 5 minutes). Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Place the seasoned beef in the slow cooker, followed by sautéed onions and garlic. Pour in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for 4 hours, until the beef is fork-tender.
- Shred the beef with two forks and mix back into the broth.
- Scoop the beef onto hoagie rolls, top with provolone cheese, and broil until the cheese is melty.
- Serve with a cup of broth for dipping.
Notes
For extra flavor, sear the beef before adding to the slow cooker. Adjust garlic and onion amounts as desired.
