A simple and delicious recipe for grilled Mediterranean octopus, perfect for seafood lovers.
Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh or frozen octopus
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp fresh oregano, chopped
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Clean the octopus under cold running water, removing any ink sacs or entrails.
- In a bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, parsley, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add octopus and coat well. Marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F / 200°C).
- Grill the marinated octopus for 3-4 minutes on each side until charred and aromatic.
- Check tenderness; it should be slightly firm but soft. If necessary, grill for another minute per side.
- Remove from grill and let rest briefly before slicing into bite-sized pieces. Serve warm with extra herbs and a drizzle of lemon juice.
