Description
Mini Chili Cheese Dogs are bite-sized appetizers perfect for parties and game days. They feature cocktail franks in sweet Hawaiian rolls, topped with warm chili and melted cheddar cheese. These easy-to-make snacks are ready in about 20 minutes.
Ingredients
- 24 count King’s Hawaiian Original Sweet Rolls
- 24 cocktail franks
- 1 cup chili, warmed
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/3 cup finely diced red onion
- 1 scallion, diced, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a 15×10 inch baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Gently separate the sweet rolls and slice the tops down the center about three-quarters of the way through, without cutting all the way. Place the rolls on the baking sheet.
- Cook the cocktail franks in boiling water for 5 minutes, then drain. Alternatively, air fry them at 400°F for 4-5 minutes.
- Place one cocktail frank into each slit in the rolls.
- Top each frank with an equal amount of warmed chili.
- Sprinkle the chili with shredded cheddar cheese and diced red onion.
- Bake for about 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
- Garnish with diced scallions and serve warm.
Notes
- Use regular hot dog buns if Hawaiian rolls are unavailable; cut them into smaller portions.
- For a vegetarian option, use vegetarian chili and veggie dogs.
- Leftover mini chili cheese dogs can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a 325°F oven for 8-10 minutes or in an air fryer at 350°F for a few minutes. Freezing is not recommended as the rolls may become soggy.
