Description

Mini Chili Cheese Dogs are bite-sized appetizers perfect for parties and game days. They feature cocktail franks in sweet Hawaiian rolls, topped with warm chili and melted cheddar cheese. These easy-to-make snacks are ready in about 20 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 24 count King’s Hawaiian Original Sweet Rolls
  • 24 cocktail franks
  • 1 cup chili, warmed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/3 cup finely diced red onion
  • 1 scallion, diced, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a 15×10 inch baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Gently separate the sweet rolls and slice the tops down the center about three-quarters of the way through, without cutting all the way. Place the rolls on the baking sheet.
  3. Cook the cocktail franks in boiling water for 5 minutes, then drain. Alternatively, air fry them at 400°F for 4-5 minutes.
  4. Place one cocktail frank into each slit in the rolls.
  5. Top each frank with an equal amount of warmed chili.
  6. Sprinkle the chili with shredded cheddar cheese and diced red onion.
  7. Bake for about 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
  8. Garnish with diced scallions and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use regular hot dog buns if Hawaiian rolls are unavailable; cut them into smaller portions.
  • For a vegetarian option, use vegetarian chili and veggie dogs.
  • Leftover mini chili cheese dogs can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a 325°F oven for 8-10 minutes or in an air fryer at 350°F for a few minutes. Freezing is not recommended as the rolls may become soggy.
