Description

Make a quick and delicious meal with this simple ground beef and flour recipe. Perfect for gravies, fillings, or easy dinners!

Ingredients

1 lb (450 g) ground beef (preferably 80/20)

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

Salt and black pepper, to taste

1/2 cup beef broth or water (optional, for saucier consistency)

Optional:

1/2 tsp smoked paprika

1 tbsp tomato paste or Worcestershire sauce

1/4 tsp chili powder or cayenne pepper

Instructions

  • Brown the beef:
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef. Break it apart as it cooks and sauté until browned and no longer pink. Drain excess fat if necessary.

  • Sauté aromatics:
Add chopped onion and garlic. Cook for 3–4 minutes until soft and fragrant.

  • Add the flour:
Sprinkle the flour evenly over the beef mixture. Stir well and cook for 1–2 minutes to eliminate the raw flour taste.

  • Add liquid (if desired):
Pour in the broth or water gradually while stirring to form a light sauce or gravy. Let it simmer for 5 minutes until thickened.

  • Season and serve:
Add salt, pepper, and any additional seasonings you like. Stir and taste. Serve hot over rice, mashed potatoes, noodles, or use as filling.

Notes

  • Use a nonstick or heavy-bottomed skillet to prevent burning.

  • To make it creamy, replace broth with milk or add a splash of cream.

  • For more flavor, deglaze the pan with a bit of Worcestershire sauce or a splash of soy sauce.

  • Want more veggies? Stir in diced bell peppers, peas, or spinach during cooking.

  • To meal prep, double the batch and freeze in portions for quick dinners.
