Â
Ingredients
2 cans (5 oz each) of tuna, drained and flaked
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 egg, beaten
2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (or 1 teaspoon dried parsley)
Salt and pepper, to taste
Oil for frying
Instructions
-
Prepare the Tuna Mixture
-
Drain the tuna well and flake it into a mixing bowl.
-
Add breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, egg, onion, lemon juice, parsley, salt, and pepper.
-
Mix until the mixture is cohesive. If it feels too wet, add more breadcrumbs.
-
-
Shape the Patties
-
Form 4–6 patties about 1/2 inch thick using your hands. Set aside on a plate.
-
-
Fry the Patties
-
Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
-
Place patties in the hot oil without overcrowding the pan.
-
Cook for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
-
Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
-
Â
-
Serve
-
Serve immediately with lemon wedges or your favorite dipping sauce.
-
Notes
-
Drain tuna thoroughly to prevent soggy patties.
-
Chill the patties for 15 minutes before frying if you have time—it helps them hold their shape.
-
Add spices or herbs like dill, paprika, or garlic powder for extra flavor.
-
Use a non-stick skillet to make flipping easier and reduce oil use.
Â
-
Serve with a fresh salad, inside a sandwich, or with dipping sauce like tartar or aioli.
