Description

  • Learn how to make crispy, golden tuna patties using pantry staples. Perfect as a quick meal, snack, or protein-packed appetizer.

Ingredients

2 cans (5 oz each) of tuna, drained and flaked

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup mayonnaise

1 egg, beaten

2 tablespoons finely chopped onion

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (or 1 teaspoon dried parsley)

Salt and pepper, to taste

Oil for frying

Instructions

  • Prepare the Tuna Mixture

    • Drain the tuna well and flake it into a mixing bowl.

    • Add breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, egg, onion, lemon juice, parsley, salt, and pepper.

    • Mix until the mixture is cohesive. If it feels too wet, add more breadcrumbs.

  • Shape the Patties

    • Form 4–6 patties about 1/2 inch thick using your hands. Set aside on a plate.

  • Fry the Patties

    • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.

    • Place patties in the hot oil without overcrowding the pan.

    • Cook for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.

    • Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

  • Serve

    • Serve immediately with lemon wedges or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Drain tuna thoroughly to prevent soggy patties.

  • Chill the patties for 15 minutes before frying if you have time—it helps them hold their shape.

  • Add spices or herbs like dill, paprika, or garlic powder for extra flavor.

  • Use a non-stick skillet to make flipping easier and reduce oil use.

  • Serve with a fresh salad, inside a sandwich, or with dipping sauce like tartar or aioli.
